KEYI PROJECT

Project Summary

Virtaal Group is developing 23 MW (2 x 11.5 MW) Hydro-Electric Project under the SPV- DD Hydro Power and Developers Private Limited.

Keyi SHPP is a 23.0 MW Hydro Power Project on Keyi River, a tributary of Panyor River in Lower Subansiri District of Arunachal Pradesh. Project has been planned as a Run of River plant. The project is estimated to have an annual gross generation of 120.98 MU.

The project envisages the construction of a gated crest barrage, 316 m long feeder tunnel, underground desilting chamber, 3.5m dia and 1350 mtr long headrace tunnel of modified horseshoe shape, a surge shaft of 5m dia, pressure shaft of 2.5m dia, a surface powerhouse and 35m long tailrace arrangement. The transmission off-take infrastructure is available close to the project area.

Keyi Project has been chosen since it is a run of the river scheme with no submergence issues and affects no other projects or catchments. The project is easily accessible on an existing road head, has the support of the local populace, and has no major environmental issues. In addition it has remarkably favorable geological conditions for the region and is a simple project with no unusual features.

The project will enhance the quality of life of people living in and around the project by the way of development of roads and communications, availability of reliable, dependable, uninterrupted power of development of small/medium industries, employment generation, development of tourism etc.

The project weir site is located at about 28 km from Yazali town, which is about 80 km from the state capital Itanagar. The project can be accessed from Guwahati via Tezpur National Highway and further by State highway and all weather roads. The nearest major airport is at Guwahati. There are small airports at Tezpur and Lilabari too. Nearest railhead is at Naharlagun.
